Sampras: Djokovic Dominate For Years

Fourteen-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras believes Novak Djokovic has the qualities to be world number one for many years to come.

Fourteen-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras believes Novak Djokovic has the qualities to be world number one for many years to come.

Sampras, who dominated men’s tennis during the 90s, was hugely impressed by Djokovic’s success at last week’s Monte Carlo Masters.

The Serbian, who won the Australian Open earlier this year, triumphed in Monaco over Rafael Nadal, who had been chasing his eighth straight title at the event.

“I do. I was thinking about that when he won Monte Carlo,” Sampras told TENNIS.com on Djokovic remaining number one for years.

“He could stay number one for quite a while, five or six years in a row. Realistically, if he stays healthy, he could very well do it.”
