World number one Novak Djokovic could be set for a spell on the sidelines after injuring his ankle in Serbia’s Davis Cup win over USA.
Djokovic rolled his ankle in the third game of his 7-5 6-7 (7-4) 6-1 6-0 victory over American Sam Querrey, the result which sealed Serbia’s progress to the quarter-finals.
The Serbian is now in doubt for the upcoming ATP 1000 Monte Carlo Masters.
“It’s swollen, and when it’s swollen it’s definitely not a good first sign,” Djokovic said.
“I’m going to do everything I can in my power to recover ‘til that tournament (Monte Carlo Masters). How realistic that is, I don’t know what to tell you.
“The nature of the injury is still to be determined.”
