Nishikori Wins In Memphis
Article info

World number 22 Kei Nishikori says he’s enjoyed a positive start to the year and wants to win more titles after triumphing in the US Indoor Tennis Championships title in Memphis on Sunday.

The Japanese defeated Spain’s Feliciano Lopez 6-2, 6-3 to secure his second title in four months and continue his fine start to the year.

Nishikori swept aside Lopez, who has only just returned from injury, in less than 70 minutes.

“To win this title is an amazing feeling. I tried to concentrate on all the important points,” Nishikori said.

“I served really well this week. I was practising a lot and it’s getting better. Hopefully I can win a couple more titles. It’s been a good start to the year.”

He added: “I’m very happy with the way I played today.”
