Fresh from winning the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, Juan Martin del Potro has continued his good form by cruising into the quarter-finals of the Open 13 in Marseille.
The big Argentine defeated Michael Llodra 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 to move into the last eight, firing down 14 aces on his way.
“It was very, very tough. It shows the level of the tournament is so high,” del Potro said.
“I think I played a very good level at the end of the match. He played well throughout the match.
“I needed luck to beat him today, because he deserved to win the match as well.”
The 24-year-old former US Open winner has been in excellent form of late, winning last week in Rotterdam.
Del Potro will next face Gilles Simon, while Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga remain in the hunt.
