Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will head into this year’s Australian Open woefully out of form after crashing out in the first round of the Sydney International.
The Czech, who was ousted in the second round of last week’s Brisbane International, went down to Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova 6-1 6-1 as her poor form continues.
“Of course I’m not feeling very well right now with my confidence, but I’m always looking forward to playing grand slams and I hope everything will be better than here,” she said.
“I just need to practice on the court and then I can have some more confidence. I felt quite OK. Before every match I get quite nervous and it was the same today, but on the court it was everything different.
“I think everything (went wrong). I mean, I played really bad. I wish I knew what I could say to you, but I don’t know.”
