Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki has come under fire for a stunt where she impersonated tennis rival Serena Williams.
Playing in an exhibition match in Brazil against Maria Sharapova, the Dane stuffed towels and clothing down her top and up her skirt to imitate the American.
The stunt from Wozniacki, who is known to have a quirky sense of humour, generated some laughter from the crowd, however there has since been a backlash with plenty of negative comments about the impersonation on social media. Wozniacki was even labelled ‘racist’.
After the game and before the backlash, Wozniacki laughed off the joke and said: “I really love the crowd here, they’re open and they have a lot of fun.”
Wozniacki nor Williams has since commented on the situation.
