Big names including Caroline Wozniacki, Petra Kvitova and Sam Stosur will be in action this week ahead of the 2012 Wimbledon Championships which begin on June 25.

Over the weekend, former world number one Jelena Jankovic warmed up for Wimbledon with some decent form, reaching the final of the AEGON Classic in Birmingham where she lost the final to American Melanie Oudin 6-4, 6-2.

The top seed at the event, Francesco Schiavone crashed out in the second round in straight sets to Misaki Doi along with Sabine Lasicki.

At the Gastein Ladies in Austria, Belgian Yanina Wickmayer lost the final to France’s Alize Corzet 7-5, 7-6.

The big event leading up to Wimbledon, however, will be the AEGON International in East Sussex where world number three Agnieszka Radwanska, Petra Kvitova (four), Caroline Wozniacki (seven), Angelique Kerber (eight) and Marion Bartoli (nine) will all compete.

Elsewhere at the UNICEF Open in the Netherlands, world number six Sam Stosur and French Open finalists Sara Errani will be the hot favourites.

Some of the big favourites leading into Wimbledon, including new world number one Maria Sharapova, four-time winner Serena Williams and Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka are not in action this week.
