While the entire of UK will probably be rooting for Andy Murray when he takes on Feliciano Lopez in the quarter-final of the Wimbledon, there is one person who could just be confused – Murray’s mum.
Murray’s mother, Jude, has been the topic of discussion on many forums after she flirted with Lopez on Twitter, going up to the extent of calling him Deliciano. Her son Andy wasn’t impressed one bit and said that he felt like throwing up! The question on everyone’s lips now is, who will Jude support in the match?
In this backdrop, Murray will take on Lopez in what could be one of the most thrilling matches of this year’s tournament. Many would have thought and hoped for a Murray-Roddick semi-final but the American was stopped in his path by Lopez in the third round, who won in straight sets.
Interestingly, after the superb piece of tennis that Lopez displayed in the third round, it took him to recover from a two-set deficit to win 7-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the last three sets. The four-hour battle against Lukasz Kubot in the fourth round may have taken a heavy toll on him but one gets the sense that this could go down to the wire.
Murray has won all the four matches that he has played against Lopez thus far and is clearly in the form of his life. He went into the Wimbledon this year with a win at the Queen’s and will be favourite to win the match. He is at 2/17 to enter the semi-finals while Lopez has odds of 15/2 for a surprise semi-final spot.
