Roger Federer is No. 1 seed at Wimbledon

Although Rafael Nadal is currently seated at the No. 1 spot in the world ATP rankings, Roger Federer is declared as the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Wimbledon, while Nadal sits at No. 2.roger federer

Federer, six-time Wimbledon and defending champion, was given the top seed last Wednesday despite the fact that Nadal recently took over the No. 1 spot in the world after his recent victory at Roland Garros. During the French Open, Roger Federer slipped to the No. 2 spot when he failed to reach the final round when he was defeated during the quarterfinals.

As for Wimbledon, it has its own discretion when it ranks players according to their records while playing on grass courts.

According to Andrew Jarrett, a Wimbledon referee, “While the seeding positions of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are reversed from their current rankings, there is no practical effect since they remain the leading seeds in their respective halves of the draw.”

The two-week tournament kicks off on June 21, Monday, and the much anticipated draw will be done on Friday.

As for the women, there was no surprise at all when Serena Williams landed on the No. 1 spot while her sister Venus sat at No. 2.

This year’s Wimbledon should be a challenge for Federer, who has not won a single tournament since this year’s Australian Open.
