Stanislas Wawrinka was interviewed at a press conference in Rome after his lost game with Novak Djokovic. He observed he was playing well in the first set and knew he was in control. Things suddenly changed when he was constantly beating the ball closer to the net. Just the same, Novak was making good services in the following sets as well.
Wawrinka claimed that he was a little disappointed with the game. Though it was a good match with Novak, who ranked number 3 in the world, Wawrinka thought he could still have played better. He commented that Novak is focused in the court and is never self-conscious with scoring. He stays and concentrates with the game. At least, Murray felt that he is faster when he is playing in the hard court than in clay courts.
When asked about his top 10 ranking, he felt surprised that he was able to reach his current position. Playing at the Master’s Series for one week and jumping from number 24 to number 10 is a good experience in itself. At this point in time, he still finds Novak, Rafael, and Roger to be the toughest and best players in tennis today.
