The defending champions, Serena and Venus Williams conquered again on the court this time in the doubles category at the Wimbledon. They defeated the Australian pair, Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs on Center Court.
The Williams took it slow at first due to an earlier match against each other, making Stosur and Stubbs in the lead of 4-2. However, Serena and Venus found their footing and played their power game ending in victory.
“It feels great to win the doubles,” she said. “You can go home with two titles. There’s nothing like winning a title with your sister. It’s really a good feeling.”
The Australians held on to their high quality game, but the defending champions broke through and conquered.
On the other hand, Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic, the Serbian and Canadian duo, in the Men’s Doubles category defended their title in the tournament against the Americans Bob and Mike Bryan.
It was in intense match between the two teams. The top seeded Bryan’s were the favorite to win playing their best game but eventually, the second seeded duo played an excellent tennis and broke the bond between the brothers.
“We played two solid finals. I thought we played pretty well from start to finish. Those guys are obviously a great team. We both served well, returned well when we had to. Nenad played great. It’s great to be back as champions.”
