It’s the Williams to the finals. Venus Williams and Serena Williams will once again compete with each other in the finals on July 4, 2009. Serena played on the center court and took a little time longer in finishing the match. On the other hand, Venus appeared to have an important engagement elsewhere and directed the match against world’s no. 1 Dinara Safina.
“Serena nearly gave me a heart attack,” Dad said. “Venus played as if she had some place to go, and she was in a major league hurry to get a great dinner.”
Venus will be playing her 6th Wimbledon finals this Saturday and if she takes home the title, she will be holding the same record as Steffi Graf, winning three years in a row. Serena will be playing for her third title.
Elena Dementieva who had four aces in the game fought hard and long on the court against Serena. But Serena made a strong forehand that landed on the sideline.
“That was intense. I mean, Dementieva was there mentally, physically,” said Price, the sister’s mother. “Serena was fortunate to get out of that one.”
After her match, Serena hurried to watch her sister. But she never made it since Venus finished quite early.
“She’s just too good on grass,” Safina said. “She gave me a pretty good lesson today.”
