The win is the first mixed doubles Grand Slam title for Huston born Huber. The American player, however, has reached the semis several times. She has also previously won four women’s doubles mixed championships.

“I’m so grateful for playing with Bob,said Huber. “I truly think we wouldn’t have won this title without him.

For Bryan, this is his second consecutive win for mixed doubles at the French Open.

“Playing with Liezel was a lot of fun,” he said. “She plays real smart tennis. I actually learned a lot from her.”

This win is also his sixth Grand Slam doubles title in his career. In each win, Bryan played with a different partner.

“It’s gotten better and better each time, said Bryan. “This was a way for me to feel good, you know, to leave here with a win, leave here with a trophy, big title and a Grand Slam, he continued.

Aside from his mixed doubles wins, Bryan also holds seven men’s doubles championships with his twin brother Mike. The brothers were also participants at Roland Garros. They, however, lost to the team of Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman in the semi-finals.
