The term "Retired Numbers" are referred to those squad numbers that a football team or a football club no longer use in honour of a legend of that team or club who had earlier played in that shirt number. A club retired a certain number in the squad after the player wearing that particular number retires and in some cases passes away. This is done so as a mark of respect and tribute to the player. After the club retires that number, no player is supposed to wear that number again.
