FC Dinamo Bucuresti is a Romanian football club based in Bucharest. They currently feature in the Romanian first division and are one of the three biggest clubs in Romanian football.
FC Dinamo Bucuresti were established on May 14, 1948 when Unirea Tricolor MAI merged with Ciocanul Bucuresti to form the club. On July 14 they played their first international match against Zidnice of erstwhile Czechoslovakia. On August 22 they made their debut in the first national division and moved into the Dinamo Stadium on October 14,1951.
FC Dinamo Bucuresti won their first Romanian League Championship in 1956 and also played in the European Champions Cup in that year. They then won their second championship in 1962 and also won the league in 1963 before doing a domestic league and Cup double in 1964.
FC Dinamo Bucuresti continued winning domestic honours and also played in several editions of the various European competitions in the 1970s. They won their 10th national title in 1982 and also won the Cup that season. They made their appearance in the European Champions Cup next season after a five-year absence. In the 1990s they continued featuring in some European competitions. They won the domestic league in 1990, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2007.
FC Dinamo Bucuresti play their home matches at the Dinamo Stadium that can house 15,300 spectators. They bear the nicknames Red Dogs and the White and Reds.
