Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, popularly known simply as Anderlecht, is a Belgian football based Anderlecht. They currently feature in the Belgian first division and are one of the biggest clubs in Belgium.

Anderlecht are the most successful football club in Belgium, having won 29 Belgium league titles. Anderlecht are also the most successful football sides in Europe, having won 5 trophies.

The club was founded in 1908 as Sporting Club Anderlechtois by football fans at the Concordia Café. The club joined the League in 1909 and reached the gained promotion to the second division in 1913.

Anderlecht played their first ever season in the Dutch top flight in 1920-1921 and were relegated from the first division at the end of the 1922-1923 season. This yo-yo phenomenon continued for some time but soon stabilized themselves.

In 1947 Anderlecht won their first Belgian league title and were champions of Belgium for six times between 1949 and 1956 and then won the title five times in a row between 1964 and 1968. Domestically Anderlecht have since gone onto establish themselves as the biggest force in Belgian football today.

Anderlecht have also established themselves in Europe. They won the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1976 and 1978 and finished runners-up in the same competition in 1977 and 1990.

Anderlecht also reached the final of the UEFA Cup three times (1983,1970,1984) but could win only on one occasion (1983).

Anderlecht play their home matches at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium that can entertain a crowd of 26,361. They bear the nicknames The Purple and White or The Purple.
