Londrina Esporte Club or Londrina is a Brazilian football team having their base in Londrina, Parana. Founded on 5th April 1956, the club won the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B in 1980, winning the state championship thrice and the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A many times. The home stadium of this club is Café stadium which has a seating capacity of 45,000 seats.

Nicknamed as Tubarao (Shark), the Chairman of the club is Claudio Canuto with Claudio Tencatti being the manager of the club. The club was founded by a group of sportsmen after watching a friendly match between Vasco da Gama and Nacional in Rolandia. This group decided that they won’t go to Rolandia to watch football and instead founded their own club in the city on 5fth of April 1956. The color chosen was blue and white for the kit.

It was in 1969, when Parana Esporte Clube and Londrina Futebol e Regatas, two of the Londrina’s clubs merged to become Londrina Esporte Clube. The new club’s colors were red and white, both colors of the Londrina city.

Londrina won the Copa Parana for the first time in 2008, post beating Cianorte in the finals. They competed in the same season, at the Recopa Sul-Brasileira. Other than that, the club was also eliminated in the Recopa Sul-Brasileira in the semi finals post a penalty shootout, by Brusque.

Major Highlights

In 1962, 1981 and in 1992, the club won the Campeonato Paranaense. In 1980, they won the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B and the Copa Parana in 2008.
