The full name of this club is Turn-und Sportfreunde Ditzingen 1893 e.V and was founded precisely on 2nd July 1893 under the name of TV Ditzingen. But, it didn’t have any football department until 1920. Post a merger, the name of the club was changed to TSVgg Ditzingen in 1919.
This club existed for most of its life as an ordinary amateur club, mostly in the lower divisions of Wurttemberg football. Later on, this club fluctuated between Kreisklass A and Kreisklasse B, the local fifth and sixth division as well. By 1950, the club gained entry to the tier-four 2nd Amateurliga.
In the mid 1980s, the club rose to fame, with some instant promotions from the tier-eight Kreisliga B to the tier-three Amateuroberliga Baden-Wurrtemberg in 1991. This club had one of the famous players named Fredi Bobic, who later on played for the Germany team as well in an international match. He was the Oberliga Baden-Wurttemberg top scorer in 1991-92, playing for TSF team, scoring 19 goals.
In 1993, this club won the Wurttemberg Cup, beating SV Boblingen team with 3-2 in the finals. This allowed the TSF team to participate in the DFB Cup in 1993-94 season, though they lost in the second round itself to Hansa Rostock by 0-2.
In Oberliga, for continuous three seasons, this club performed to get qualified for the new Regionalliga Sud that was formed in 1994. At the initial stage, in this new league, the club did perform well, finishing in the sixth and fifth place in the first two seasons. In 1994-95, Sean Dundee scored around 24 goals for the team, coming second in the Regionalliga scorer list.
Since 1996, this club however declined in giving good performances, struggling against relegation as an alternative. By 2000, the number of Regionalliga got reduced from four to two and TSF failed to make the cut, finishing in 15th place in the league. With the end of this club’s miracle rise, it was ultimately handed through the Oberliga within two seasons to the Verbandsliga. Post 2008, the club went to free fall, suffering 3 consecutive relegations and ending up in the tier nine Kreisliga A Enns/Murr in 2011-12.
