Sanfrecce Hiroshima is a professional Japanese association football club in J. League Division 1. Nicknamed as Sanfrecce or as Sanfre, this team was founded in 1938. The home ground of this team is Hiroshima Big Arch, which has seating capacity of 50,000 spectators. The Chairman of this club is Yūichi Mototani, with Hajime Moriyasu being the manager of the team.

Major Highlights

Till date, the club has won various awards and acclamations. These include the Japan Soccer League five times, in 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and in 1970. They won the Emperor’s Cup thrice, in 1965, 1967 and in 1969. This team was in third place in 1969 winning the Asian Club Championship. They even won the NHK Super Cup once in 1967.

Further, the team was the first stage champions of the J. League Division 1 in 1994 and the champions in 2008 of L. League Division 2. Moreover, the team won the Japanese Super Cup in 2008.
