Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club, popularly known as AS Monaco, is a football club from the Monegasque region. They currently feature in the French Ligue 1 and are considered one of the heavyweights in French football.

AS Monaco were established on August 1,1919 but several clubs in the area were reunited, In 1933 they were invited by the French league but were relegated right after the first season.

In 1953 they returned to the French first division and in 1960 won their first ever trophy, the French Cup. Next week they won the French first division title for the first time in their history and also won the French Cup. In 1963 they again won the French League but from then had to endure some indifferent times.

In 1975 president Jean-Louis Campora took the club under his wings and soon won the French league. In his reign, Monaco won 5 French first divisions and also played in Europe several times.

For the 2003-2004 season, president Pierra Svara became the head of the club and the club, coached by Didier Deschamps, reached the final of the UEFA Champions League but were defeated by FC Porto in the final.

Monaco have since played in the UEFA Cup a few times.

AS Monaco play their home matches at the Stade Louis II that has a capacity of 18,500. They bear the nickname the red and white.
