Ottmar Hitzfeld is the head coach of this team with Alexander Frei being the captain of the team. The team is also known by the names the Schweizer Nati (in German language), La Nati (in French language), Squadra nazionale (in Italian language) and is nicknamed as Schweizer Nati.
At the Euro 2004, Swiss team player, Johann Vonlanthen was the youngest scorer in history of the Euro championships equalizing against France and achieving the record by three months. This is the only team in tournament of World cup to have conceded a goal during regulation time in the match held in 2006. The team top scorer was Alexander Frei with 2 goals and holds the maximum record of 40 goals. At the Euro tournament held in 2008, the team player, Hakan Yakin scored three goals. At the World cup held in 2010, Mark Gonzalez scored the goal in the 75th minute of the match whilst playing against Chile. The game ended with a 559 minute line beating the previous record held by Italy by 9 minutes.
The Swiss kit includes two different outfits with red shirt and white shorts for home matches and white shirt and red shorts for away matches. The jersey of this team is manufactured by Puma.

The best performance of this team was in 1934, 1938 and in 19554 when the country had hosted the World Cup event. Moreover, the team has been more successful with victory in their threshold in 2002 at the under 17 European Championship and in 2009 at the under 17 World Cup.
Though this team has not earned any major trophy till date, they have won a silver medal in the Olympic Games held in Paris in 1924.
