FC Atyrau

FC Atyrau is a Kazakhstani football club based in Atyrau. They currently feature in the Kazakhstan Premier League.

FC Atyrau were established in 1980 as Prikaspiets. In 2000 they were rechristened as Akzhayik and one year later they assumed their current name.

Atyrau gained promotion to the Kazakhstan Premier League in 2001 and have played in the top flight for the past six seasons. They finished runners-up in 2001 and 2002 but have been suffering financially of late.

FC Atyrau play their home matches at the Munayshy Stadium that can accommodate 9000 spectators. They bear the nickname “Oilers”.
