Fudbalski klub Slavija is a Bosnian football club based in Istocno Sarajevo in Republike Srpska. They currently feature in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
FK Slavija were established in 1908 as part of the sports society of Sarajevo gymnasium. At the time they were known as Dacki sportski klub (DSK) and played their debut match against a selection of Vienna soldiers in 1911 and won the match 4-2. In 1913 a number of members left DSK to form Hrvatski sportski klub. DSK altered their name to Srpski sportski klub (SSK).
In 1921 SSK became SK Slavija and started developing young players. They first played in the Kingdom’s top tier club competition in 1924 and couldn’t get past the first round; the following year they reached the semi-finals. They soon went out of the top competition and returned only in 1930. In 1935-1936 they came close to winning the Yugoslav championship.
Football during World War II was stopped and after the war got over, SK Slavija were disbanded. They were reformed only when Yugoslavia were broken up and gained entry into the Bosnian top flight for the first time in 2004-2005. They have been playing in the Bosnian top flight since then.
SK Slavija play their home matches at the Gradski SRC Slavija Stadium that can accommodate 6,000 spectators.
