Kilmarnock Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. They currently feature in the Scottish Premier League.
Kilmarnock were established in 1969 and competed in the inaugural Scottish Cup in the 1873-1874 season. They joined the Scottosh League in 1895 and featured in the top flight for the first time in 1899. They became the champions of Scotland for the first time in their history in 1965.
They however started to decline after that and in the 1980s were relegated to the Second Division. They returned to the top flight in 1993 and have established themselves as one of the important clubs in the Scottish Premier League since then. They won the Scottish Cup for the third time in their history in 1997.
Kilmarnock play their home matches at Rugby Park that can accomodate 18,128 spectators. They bear the nickname “Killie”.
