ABC Futebol Clube
ABC Futebol Clube are a Brazilian football team based out of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The club was founded in 1915 and is the oldest club in the entire state. The President of the Commerce Association of Rio Grande do Norte was the founder of the club and it was at his home that this event occured. The name of the team “ABC” was used to denote Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
The team was founded on June 29, 1915, on avenida Rio Branco, at Colonel Avelino Alves Freire home, president of Associação Comercial do Rio Grande do Norte (Commerce Association of Rio Grande do Norte). At that meeting was decided by the founders that the club colors will be black and white. It was also decided that the team shirt will be composed of black & white vertical stripes. The team was named ABC, which means Argentina, Brazil, Chile. The team registered with the Brazilian Association in 1927.
Since then, the team has won an incredible 50 state championships till date. With the likes of Da cunha, Nonato, Sergio Alves, Marcio and Silva, it is no wonder that the team has been so successful over so many years. The team plays at the 52,000 capacity Estadio Dr. Joao Cluadio Vasconcelos Machado. The club also owns the Estadio Maria Lamas Farache, which has a capacity of 14,000.
