Reggina
Reggina Calcio is an Italian football club based in Reggio Calabria, Calabria. They currently feature in the Italian Serie A.
The club was established on January 11,1914 as Unione Sportiva Reggio Calabria and after going through several name changes finally embraced their current signature in 1984.
Reggina have placed most of their history in the lower divisions of Italy and made their first appearance in the Italian Serie A in 1999. They were relegated two years later and returned to the first division in Italy in 2002.
In 2006 Reggina were found guilty in the Italian Calciopoli scandal and were punished with a 15-point penalty for the 2006-2007 Italian Serie A season.
Reggina play their home matches at the Stadio Oreste Granillo which can hold a crowd of 27,763. The clubs bears the nickname Amaranto (Dark-reds).
Regina foster a massive rivalry with Messina and engage in the Derby dello Stretto (Strait of Messina derby).
