Liédson da Silva Munizimage:Liédson da Silva Muniz|Liédson da Silva Muniz is a Brazilian-born footballer who plays for Portugal national football team. He was born on 17th December 1977 in Cairu, Brazil. In the Portuguese first division, Liédson plays for Sporting Clube de Portugal.
The striker commenced his football career with Curitiba Foot Ball Club at an age of twenty two. Prior to that, he played amateur football on weekends while working at a supermarket on the weekdays. He played for the clubs like Poções, Prudentópolis, Curitiba, Flamengo and Corinthians respectively before moving to Sporting CP in 2003. He was second top scorer for the club in the following season, scoring fifteen goals in thirty one games. He is considered as one of the greatest strikers in the club history. In 201 appearances till now, he has scored 111 goals.
Liédson expressed interest in playing for the Portuguese national team. In spite of being Brazilian-born, Liédson expressed a desire to play for Portugal national team. He received Portuguese nationality, after residing in the country for six years. He was selected for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers on against Hungary and Denmark on 26th August 2009. He made his debut in a match against Denmark on 5th September, scoring a goal in a 1-1 equalizer. Till now, he has made thirteen appearances scoring for goals of the national team.
