Marvell Wynne is a professional American football player who is currently playing as the defender of the Colorado Rapids, a club in Major League Soccer. Born on May 8, 1986, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, Wynne started playing football when he was still six years old, when he chose football over baseball – his father’s sport.
While in high school, Wynne studied at Poway High School, and was considered a letterman in track and football. Track became his second sport, and by the time he was in college, he timed 10.39 for a 100 meter run, which is a set record for those who play professional soccer. During his college years, he did not let go of his football playing, and as a result, he played football for two years at UCLA, and was duly named as a first team American for the 2005 school year.
In 2006, Wynne turned pro when he was drafted first during the MLS SuperDraft held during the said year. He was signed by MetroStars (later known as Red Bull New York) and he stayed with team for one year. During the said time, Wynne also signed a Generation Adidas contract with MLS.
Soon enough, Wynne established himself as one of the fastest players in the league due to his blazing speed. He was then traded to Toronto FC in 2007, where he impressed Toronto and quickly became a fan favorite. It was during his time with Toronto FC that he scored his very first MLS career goal while playing against Houston Dynamo.
