Stéphane Grichting> is a Swiss football defender who plays for the Auxerre team and has achieved almost 36 caps for the team. Grichting was included in the FIFA World Cup squads in 2006 and in 2010. It was due to an injury that he was pulled out of the European Football Championship in 2004. Born in Sierre in Switzerland, his main position is that of a defender.
In 2006 FIFA World Cup, the Swiss team beat Turkey during which time, he got injured in the riots that followed after the match. Grichting played for FC Sion from 1996 to 2002, during which he acquired 124 appearances and scored 5 goals. Whilst with Auxerre, he has made 195 appearances from 2002 and scored one goal. From 2004 onwards, he is playing with Swiss team and has since made 38 appearances and scored one goal.
