Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets is a professional footballer from Spain. He spent most of his professional career playing for Barcelona. In 2021, he was named 2021 UEFA Nations League Finals Player of the Tournament, and in 2023, he joined Inter Miami.

Sergio Busquets Burgos was born on July 16, 1988, in Sabadell, Spain. He stands 189 cm tall and he is a defensive midfielder.

He is the son of Carles Busquets who was a goalkeeper for Barcelona in the 1990s.

Busquets started his youth career laying for Badia. From 1996 to 1999, he played for Barbera Andalucia before playing for Lledia from 1999-2003. From 2003 to 2005, he started playing for Jabac Terrassa, and in 2005, he joined Barcelona.

Senior Career

In 2007, he signed with Barcelona B. Busquets continued playing for the team for a couple of years before he was promoted to the main club in 2008.

In 2009, he received the Bravo Award and he was also awarded the La Liga’s Breakthrough Player Award. In 2010, he was named to the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team.

Also in 201, he was given the Prince of Asturias Award. Then in 2011, he was given the Gold Medal of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit.

In 2012, he was also part of the Barcelona team that won the UEFA European Championship Team of the Tournament.

He continued to play for FC Barcelona through to 2023 before he signed with Inter Milan. In addition to his club career, he also played for the Spanish National Team.
