Kim currently plays for the club April 25. He is playing for the club since the year 2006. His international career kicked off in 2007, when he got selected in the Korea DPR National football team.

In the year 2006, Kim showed a glimpse of his capabilities when he scored four goals in the 2006 AFC U-19 championship. He helped Korea DPR steer to the Asian title. He also earned the award of the Most Valuable Player.

Kim also performed outstandingly in the qualifier held against United Arab Emirate during the final round in Asia for FIFA World cup 2010. In 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship, Kim was the captain for the Korea DPR team and scored 1 goal against the Czech Republic. The match was a 2-2 draw. He was also a player for the 2008 East Asian Football Championship. He has made 3 appearances at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa so far.
