Itumeleng Khune

Khune started his career as a defender in 1999 with Kaizer Chiefs. He took up goal keeping when he experienced chest problems during a game. He got attention while catching balls by youth coach Terror Sephoa. Terror converted him into a goalkeeper.
Khune started playing for Kaizer Chiefs in 2004. He has made 64 appearances for the team and still playes for the team. In 2008, he started playing for the South African National team. He has made 30 appearances for the National team. During his youth career he has played for Kaizer Chiefs from 1999 to 2004.
Khune was selected for 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup as a goal keeper. He saved a penalty against David Villa, a Spanish star in the group stages. He was selected as a first choice goalkeeper at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He saved some good goals during the opening match with Mexico.
He was sent off on 16th June 2010, from the 2010 FIFA World Cup when he clipped the foot of Luis Suárez, an Uruguayan striker.
