Sidney Rodrigue Noukpo Govouimage:Sidney Govou|Sidney Govou was born on 27th July 1079 in Le Puy-en-Velay, France. He is a professional football player who plays for France national football team. He is also a part of the club Olympique Lyonnais. Primarily used as a winger, Govou can also be used as a striker when needed.
Govou arrived in sporting-world only after completing his studies. He joined the youth academy of Olympique Lyonnais at an age of seventeen. He has been loyal to the club since then. So far, Govou has made two hundred and ninety two appearances for the club, scoring forty nine goals for the team. During the season of 2004–05, Govou was given the captain's armband by Paul Le Guen as a result of the absence of Claudio Caçapa who was nursing an injury. Govou has been a part of some of the most memorable victories of the club.
Sidney Govou won his first cap in 2002. Although he was not included in the initial squad of the World Cup 2006, he was called up to replace the injured player Djibril Cissé. In total forty nine appearances made for France till now, Govou has scored ten goals.
