An Argentine-Italian footballer, Federico Vilar Baudena began his football career with Boca Juniors, in 1993. The goalkeeper remained with the club till 2000, after which he moved to Almirante Brown. Baudena remained with the club for one year, and in 2001, he moved to Mexico, to play for a second division club, Acapulco.

Baudena made his first division debut in 2003, against Monterrey, and was soon noticed for his impeccable reflexes. Growing to be one of Mexico’s best goalkeepers, Baudena is also known for his amazing striking ability, having scored several free kick goals. In addition, due to his charisma and leadership qualities, Baudena was soon named team captain.

After joining Atlante F.C., El Jefe scored four goals, all from free kicks, this is a considerable achievement as he is the team goalkeeper. The first goal was against Necaxa, in 2004, followed by one against Cruz Azul, in 2006, one again Chilean team Colo-Colo, and lastly one against CD Olimpia, in 2008, during the CONCACAF Champions League.
