Juan Carlos Valenzuela is a professional football player from Mexico who plays as a defender. His defensive capabilities have seen him play at the back although Carlos is also known to have a good passing ability that have seen him play as a defensive midfielder also.

Carlos began his playing career at the youth division at FC Atlas AC. In 2003, he graduated from the youth academy and was promoted to the first team squad. Despite starting slowly, Carlos’ versatility as a defender and a midfielder soon saw him get regular games and by the time he left the club in 2007, Carlos was a first team regular at FC Atlas AC. After playing 107 games and scoring 3 goals, Carlos moved to Tecos UAG in 2008.

Carlos spent a single season at Tecos UAG where he made 33 appearances and scored 1 goal.
In 2009, he moved to Club America where he started making regular substitute appearances. In his 16 games for Club America, Carlos impressed the national team coach into getting a call up to the Mexican national team.

In 2009, Carlos was a part of the Mexican national team that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
