Miguel Becerra Gonzalez is a professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper in Mexico, the country of his birth. Becerra began his professional career in 2001 after taking over from Oswaldo Sanchez at Chivas de Guadalajara. Sanchez had left with the Mexican national team for the 2002 World Cup and that gave Becerra to make his debut. He would just go on to play one more game for Chivas de Guadalajara before being transferred to Dorados de Sinaloa at the beginning of 2003.
At Dorados, things didn’t change much and Becerra continued to warm the bench, playing just 6 games in 2 seasons. In 2005, Becerra moved to Queretaro FC and had a change in fortune. The team was devoid of a quality goalkeeper and Becerra was brought in with the hope of filling in the void. Becerra became their first choice goalkeeper and made almost 70 appearances however, when the club failed to stay in the top flight, Becerra left the team to join Santos Laguna.
Again placed behind Oswaldo Sanchez, Becerra seemed destined to sit on the bench however Oswaldo got injured and gave Becerra the opportunity to shine. Since Sanchez’s injury, Becerra has become a regular in the starting lineup, playing 21 games so far.
