Rafael Figueroa

Rafael Alejandro Figueroa Gomez is a professional football player from Mexico who plays as a defender. A popular player in the lower divisions, Figueroa rose through the second and third divisions and finally reached Santos Laguna in 2005. After an initial struggle to find a place in the team, Figueroa utilized his determination and skill to become a regular in the first team squad.

Figueroa played an important role in keeping Santos Laguna up in the top flight. His earlier stints in 2003-04 with Estudiantes de Santander and Leon in 2004-05 played a major role in building his character for the top division. At a time when the club was struggling with financial issues, Figueroa became a major pillar of strength for Santos Laguna and stuck with the team through tough times.

Till date, Figueroa has played over 110 games for the team and has scored 4 goals.
