Pascal Cygan is a French footballer who currently features for the Spanish side Villarreal. Cygan is a strong central defender who can play at left back too.

Cygan commenced his playing career at French side Lille OSC in 1995 and stayed with them until the summer of 2002. He led Lille to UEFA Champions League football in the 2001-2002 season.

Arsenal signed Cygan in the summer of 2002 for 3 million euros and the Frenchman did exhibit promise at the start of his Arsenal career. But poor form and injuries in the subsequent months cost him a starting berth in the Arsenal unit and in the summer of 2006, he was sold to Spanish side Villarreal for 2 million pounds.

Cygan though failed to resurrect himself at Villarreal in his two seasons at El Madrigal and has been told by the club to leave in th summer of 2008.
