Diego Lopez is actually a graduate of the famous Real Madrid youth academy and was promoted to the first team at the start of the 2005-2006 season. He stayed at the Bernabeu until the end of the 2006-2007 season and was the second choice Real Madrid custodian behind Iker Casillas and played just 2 matches.
In the summer of 2007, Villarreal signed Diego Lopez for 4 million pounds and now the player has firmly established himself as the first choice custodian for the Yellow Submarine.
