Raul García Escudero is a Spanish football player who currently features for the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. He plays in central midfield and is rated as one of the best players in La Liga.
Garcia graduated from the youth academy at Osasuna and played for the first team of Osasuna from 2004 to 2007. He impressed in his three years at Osasuna and was heavily linked to move to European powerhouse Real Madrid in the summer of 2007.
But Garcia thought otherwise and opted to join Real’s cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid for a transfer fee worth 13 million euros on a five-year contract. He performed quite remarkably for Atletico in the 2007-2008 season and has now established himself as one of the better players for Atleti, although he played on loan at Osasuna in the 2011-12 campaign.
Garcia renewed his contract with Atletico for a further three years in the summer of 2011. He won the Europa League in 2009-10 and the UEFA Super Cup in 2010 and 2012.
Garcia has played for Spain at the Under-19 and Under-21 levels.
