Georgios “Giourkas” Seitaridis is a Greek international defender who currently features for the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. He is renowned for his strong defending and spot-on man marking.
Seitaridis commences his professional career with modest Greek club PAS Giannina in 1998 but after three years he was signed by Greek giants Panathinaikos. Three years later he moved onto the then reigning European champions FC Porto in Portugal.
He had a successful Euro 2004 campaign with Greece and was heavily tipped to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2005. But he was eventually sold to Russian powerhouse Dynamo Moscow for about 10 million euros.
But Giourkas Seitaridis lasted just one season in Moscow and was signed by Atletico in the summer of 2006 for a considerably good amount of 12 million euros. He is injured at the moment after damaging his achilles tendon in November 2007.
