Rafael Marques Pinto, a football defender, began playing football in the youth division of Brasiliense FC, in 2001. After one season, he made his debut with the first team of the club, and remained there for one season. Pinto then moved onto Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas in 2004, and remained with the club till 2007. During this time, he made over 75 appearances with the first team and scored three times. Pinto also won the Rio Cup, in 2007, during his tenure with Botafogo.
In 2008, Pinto moved to Goias EC, but did not make any appearances with the first team and in 2009 moved to his current club, Gremio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense.
