Ramires Santos do Nascimento, commonly known simply as Ramires, is a Brazil international football player who currently features for the English and European powerhouse Chelsea. He plays as a midfielder.
Ramires commenced his footballing career with Joinville and played for them from 2006 to 2008, although he was on loan at Cruzeiro for the 2007-08 campaign. He was signed by the Brazilian giants thereafter and played for them in 2008-09.
After spending the 2009-10 campaign with Benfica during which he won the Portuguese Liga with the Lisbon-based side, he was signed by Chelsea.
Ramires quickly established as a key player for the Blues in defensive midfield, and was crucial in their FA Cup and Champions League triumph in the 2011-12 campaign.
Ramires made his international debut for Brazil on June 6, 2009 against Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier. He was part of the squad that won the FIFA Confederations Cup that summer, and has featured in over 25 matches for his country so far.
