A Brazilian footballer from Parana, Edson Bastos Barreto began playing professional football in 1998, with Figueirense, but spent the very next season with Biguacu, before returning to Figueirense. Once again after only season, Barreto had another stint, this time with Tiradentes, after which he returned to Figueirense.
Barreto remained with the club till 2005, and made over 130 appearances for the club. In 2005 he moved to Portuguesa, but stayed there for only one season, after which he moved to Fortaleza. But his tenure with Fortaleza was extremely short, and Barreto moved to Guaratingueta in the same season. He finally joined his current club, Coritiba, a top division club in the Brazilian football league in 2008.
