A football midfielder from Argentina, Rodrigo Brana began playing professional football with Quilmes Atletico Club, a Second Division club in the Argentine football league, in 1997. But after just one season, Brana had a short stint with Spanish club, RCD Mallorca, before returned to Quilmes for another season, and then shifting to Union de Santa Fe for one season.

Brana once again returned to Quilmes in 2002, and remained with the club till 2005, when he joined current club Estudiantes de La Plata. Playing a key role in the club's first title win in 23 years, the Apertura 2006, Brana was selected as the third best player in the tournament that season, by Argentine sports newspaper Ole. In fact, the two spots above him were taken by his teammates, Juan Sebastian Veron and Mariano Pavone.
