An Argentine footballer, Matias Sanchez began playing professional football in 2006, with Racing Club. He gained entry through the youth club of the same club, and made his debut against Boca Juniors. Sanchez remained with the club till 2008, becoming a regular player of the team. He made over 45 league appearances with the team, with only one goal to his credit.
The central midfielder had the honor of representing his country with the Argentina Under-20 team at the South American Youth Championship of 2007, held in Paraguay. He was also a vital part of the Argentina Under-20 team which won the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, held in Canada.
In 2008, Sanchez left Racing Club to join Estudiantes de La Plata, with whom he made 13 league appearances in the last season.
