Elano Blumer is a Brazilian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Manchester City. He is a playmaker, an attacking midfielder whose versatility allows him to play as down the right flank or in central midfield. Elano is also renowned for his free-kicks and dribbles.
Elano made his professional club football start with the Brazilian giants Santos in 2001. He played for four years at Santos, scoring 33 goals in a whooping 131 league matches.
Elano was signed by Shakhtar Donetsk in 2005 and he was again a success as he scored 14 goals in 48 league matches. Manchester City signed Elano from Shakhtar in the summer of 2007 for 8 million pounds on a four year contract. Elano was a hit in his first season (2007-2008) in the English Premiership. He scored 8 goals in 34 Premier League matches and was lauded for his performances.
Elano made his international debut for Brazil in 2004 andhe has made 30 matches for the national side, scoring 4 goals. He played for his nation at the 2007 Copa America.
