Vassiriki Abou Diaby, commonly known simply as Abou Diaby, is a France international football player who currently features for the English and European giants Arsenal. He plays as a central midfielder but can also play on the wings.
Diaby commenced his footballing career at French side Auxerre and made his senior debut for the club in 2004. He played for them for one and a half seasons but without much success and in January 2006 was signed by Arsenal for a reported 2 million pounds.
Diaby made his Arsenal debut as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat to Everton in January 2006. He gradually earned the confidence of manager Arsene Wenger and started several league and cup games for the Gunners in the 2007-2008 season.
Diaby has made over 110 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League and is now a regular for the north London clib.
Diaby was called up to the French national side in March 2007 for their two forthcoming fixtures and made his debut in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania and then played against Austria. He played for France at the 2010 World Cup finals.
