Zbigniew Boniek is a former Polish international football player who used to play during the 1970s and the 1980s. He played as a striker and as a winger.
Zbigniew Boniek started his professional club football career at Widzew Lodz in 1975 and scored 50 goals in 172 league matches for them. In 1982 Boniek was signed by Italian and European powerhouse Juventus. He played for three seasons for Juve and scored 20 goals in 111 matches. In 1985 he was signed by another Italian side AS Roma and scored 10 goals in 47 league matches.
Boniek won the Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Super Cup with Juventus in 1984 and the European Cup with the same club in 1985.
Zbigniew Boniek was known for his pace and acceleration. He was also noted for his dribbling qualities and amazing technique. He also featured for the Polish national team between 1976 and 1988 and scored 24 goals in 80 international matches for his nation. He played for Poland at the 1982 World Cup.
