Julio Cesar Romero, popularly known as Romerito, is a former Paraguayan international football player who used to play during the 1980s and the 1990s. He played as a creative midfielder and has been noted by Pele as one of the 125 greatest living footballers.
Romerito commenced his professional club football career at local side Sportivo Luqueno in 1977 and after stints at New York Cosmos and Fluminense was off to Catalan giants FC Barcelona. He subsequently featured for Puebla, Sportivo Luqueno, Olimpia Asuncion, Deported La Serena and Club Cerro Cora and ended his career where he had begun, Sportivo Luqueno. He scored more than 400 goals in his career and dazzled the football lovers with his tricks and sorcery.
Romerito was adjudged the South American Footballer of the Year in 1985 and is considered as a South American legend. He played for Paraguay between 1979 and 1990 and scored 13 goals in 32 international matches for his nation.
